THE pack-up after an event the size of the Multicultural Festival is a gigantic job and it’s accomplished with impressive speed, but CC wonders who is keeping an eye on public safety as the white tents are rapidly dismantled throughout the busy walking areas of Civic today.
The hard-working teams doing the heavy lifting appear to follow a systematic process that involves leaving various parts of the festival infrastructure lying around, presumably for other workers to come along later and dismantle with different tools, or collect with a forklift.
As one of our spies pointed out, this leaves pedestrians in some areas weaving through an obstacle course, avoiding various hazards like sharp pieces of metal tubing, piles of heavy wood and metal poles and a whole range of things to trip over.
