CANBERRA Olympic Pool in Civic will be closed next Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 February, to allow aquatic specialists to further investigate the source of a water leak at the facility.
According to acting Deputy Director David Jeffrey, Sports and Recreation Services commissioned specialists to undertake an initial investigation to determine the source of the leak when it became aware that water was being lost from the pool.
“The report, received on 4 February, has recommended the closure of the pool facilities for two days in order to allow more thorough investigations to be conducted,” Mr Jeffrey said.
“While it is regrettable that the pool needs to be closed in order to allow these further investigations, it is not uncommon for such leaks to occur in aquatic facilities of this age.
“In order to reduce the inconvenience to pool users as much as possible, The Club Group Management will allow free access to all members of Canberra Olympic Pool at their other facilities in Tuggeranong and Belconnen.”
During the closure, the Health Club located at the Canberra Olympic Pool will continue to operate as usual.
Depending on the results of these further investigations, a plan will be developed for any necessary remedial work.
Further information about the temporary closure and options available to members and the community may be found on the Economic Development website at www.economicdevelopment.act.gov.au
