ALISTAIR Coe has discovered the cardboard tram used by Simon Corbell to promote light rail earlier this year cost $11,320, Shadow Minister for Transport Alistair Coe said today.
“It’s ridiculous but unsurprising that the cardboard tram which was used by ACT Labor over four weeks during January and February cost $11,000. Only Simon Corbell could make sure a cardboard popup would cost this much,” Alistair said.
“The $11,320 is on top of more than $14,000 for other light rail merchandise including foam trains, smaller cardboard trams and drink bottles which were rolled out last year.
“The latest round of information obtained from the government also revealed Simon Corbell also spent nearly $3000 on three promotional videos to promote capital metro.
“This government continues to squander Canberra taxpayers’ money on a project that will service only a small fraction of the ACT population. If it wasn’t such a serious waste of money, spending $11,320 on a tram would be a laughing matter,” Mr Coe concluded.
