THERE’S an element of wit silliness in the title Rob and Deta Rayner, the Beez from Berlin, have chosen to mark the 25th anniversary of the destruction of the Berlin Wall – ‘Don’t Mention the Wall’.
The popular duo say they’re presenting a completely different show from the usual, with live music mostly written by Rob, a slide show and stories from Deta and Rob about their own their experiences, personal and political, during the Fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The show is peppered with original songs covering like the rise of Neo-Nazism in reunified Germany and the post-Wall banana shortage.
“Don´t Mention the Wall” is billed as a funny and moving cabaret program in song, spoken word, still photography, historical document and film of one of the most momentous events of the 20th century.
Rob and Deta of the The Beez In Concert, at The Irish Club, Weston, 7.30pm -Saturday, March 7., presented in English (with the exception of three German songs which aresubtitled). $15 – $12 concessions, bookings to artistsshed.com or tickets at the door.
