ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to multiple car break-ins at a unit complex in Belconnen overnight (February 24).
About 7.20am, police were called to Morell Close in Belconnen following a report of a car that had been broken into overnight and items stolen. While police were in attendance, a number of other residents at the complex approached police to report similar incidents.
Police conducted a search and observed further cars with damage, contacting the respective owners to advise and attend. A total of 11 cars were broken into with a number of items stolen including cash, an iPod shuffle, a Bluetooth in-car speaker, and clothing.
Four cars sustained serious damage where the doors were bent down from the top of the window frame and another car had similar damage to the sunroof.
A number of occupants heard car alarms activated in the secure car park between 3am and 3.45am this morning (February 24).
Police also attended several other car break-ins in Morell Close and Beissel Street today, with a further four similar theft and property damage incidents reported yesterday on nearby Beissel Street.
