THE Abode Hotel in Woden will become a home away from home for families of patients receiving care at nearby Canberra Hospital with the donation of a two-bedroom family room that can accommodate up to four people for extended stays.
In a partnership with the Canberra Hospital Foundation, the managing director of Geocon and Abode Hotels, Nick Georgalis, has handed over the room to the foundation in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Chief Minister Andrew Barr and Health Minister Simon Corbell.“There is arguably nothing more stressful than having a loved one in hospital and we look forward to welcoming many guests who unfortunately find themselves in this difficult position and hope to relieve some of that stress,” Mr Georgalis said.
“This is one way in which we can help our community by assisting those visiting loved ones who are sick and in hospital and away from home.”
The Canberra Hospital Foundation supports families that find themselves away from home while they support a loved one receiving treatment, including through providing accommodation.
