SIMON Corbell has thanked the outgoing Director General of ACT Health, Dr Peggy Brown, for her many years of distinguished service to the people of the ACT.

After a decade as a leader at ACT Health, Dr Brown has announced she would not be seeking to renew her contract after her current five-year term expires later this year.

“Dr Brown has led ACT Health through a period of significant reform and expansion and is widely respected across the ACT health system,” Simon said.

“Dr Brown has been a tremendous servant for the people of Canberra and she should be congratulated for the important work she has done as both Director of Mental Health and as Director General of ACT Health.

“Ten years is a significant period of service at the top of the health administration and I understand her decision not to pursue a further long term contract.

“On behalf of the government I would like to thank her for her professionalism and counsel and wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.

“During Dr Brown’s decade of leadership, ACT Health has overseen delivery of a range of important projects for the ACT community including the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, the Canberra Region Cancer Centre and the introduction of Nurse-Led Walk-In Centres.”

A recruitment process is underway for a new Director General of ACT Health. Dr Brown is expected to finish with ACT Health later this year.
