ALT-folk duo The April Maze will be launching their new album, “Sleeping Storm,” at Smiths Alternative this Wednesday, February 11.
The husband and wife duo, Todd and Sivan, who joined forces 7 years ago, have a large following in Canberra and attracted a huge crowd last time they played at the National Folk Festival.
They’ve travelled throughout Australia, New Zealand, UK and Canada and these musical roaming have seen them play over 35 festivals, 20 folk clubs and 850 shows in conjunction with the release of three EPs and two albums.
Praise for “haunting harmonies, a masterful cello/vocal hybrid and vintage 60s/70s vibe”, they leapt into the spotlight in 2012 when their second album “Two” went global, capturing over 70,000 plays in the first week of release, and featuring in the top 100 favourite new releases of the world’s biggest music streaming service Spotify alongside Lana Del Ray & Birdy.
Of late they’ve scored rave reviews and national airplay in the UK, and are optimistic about the prospects of “Sleeping Storm”.
The April Maze, “Sleeping Storm” launch, Smiths Alternative, Alinga St Civic, 7.30pm, Feb 11, bookings to
trybooking.com or tickets at the door.
