WE got all excited when news arrived that one hundred lucky Canberrans would “have a chance to enjoy the creative vision of Fred Smith, one of Australia’s most remarkable songwriters, at a special session as part of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia’s 100 Seats series”.
Local arts identity Smith’s nine studio albums, their songs and back stories, will be the focus of this ‘100 Seats’ performance. Smith will discuss his creative vision and inspirations, and share anecdotes from his 15-year musical journey, as well as perform some of his favourite songs. He will be joined by guests, double bassist and vocalist Liz Frencham, and percussionist/pianist Carl Pannuzzo.
But alas, when we told the NFSA media officer just how impressed we were, the return email read, “just heard from Front of House that it is almost sold out.”
Just in case, here are the details: Fred Smith, in NFSA Theatrette, McCoy Circuit, Acton 6:30pm, Friday, February 13, bookings to 6248 2000.
