ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a dangerous driving incident that occurred on Saturday, January 10.
About 2pm police located a reported stolen motor vehicle in the area of Allawah Flats, Braddon. At the sight of the police car, the driver of the stolen car took off at speed.
A short time later the stolen car, a white Nissan Navara utility with NSW registration BKJ31W, was seen by a City Patrol on London Circuit where it crossed over onto the incorrect side of London Circuit into oncoming traffic.
The car was seen to travel southbound into oncoming traffic on Vernon Circle where it narrowly missed colliding with an oncoming police car, which had placed itself in a position to deflect the fleeing vehicle around other traffic to avoid a head on crash.
The driver continued against the traffic along Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, driving down the up-ramp onto Flynn Drive against the flow of traffic, through the streets of Parkes and Barton before police lost sight on Brisbane Avenue.
The car was seen a short time later heading back into the area saturated with police vehicles before driving through several red lights away from police.
The car was last seen in the vicinity of the Hyatt Hotel on Flynn Drive, Yarralumla.
Police are urging anyone who may know the identity of the driver or has any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
