A 46-year-old man was apprehended after threatening police with an axe at a Weston residence last night (December 30).
At about 6pm police arrived at a house in Chevalier Street in response to a report of a man damaging property in the back yard with an axe.
Police say the man was aggressive at times and threatened the officers before he retreated into the house with the axe.
About 9.15pm, the man emerged from the house with the axe, moving towards police before being incapacitated by a Taser gun.
The man was taken to the Canberra Hospital mental health facility for assessment.
