“THE Long Hot Summer” exhibition is Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s gift to the public.
“Anyone and everyone”, TAC is saying, can get creative and have their photographic work professionally exhibited in February.
“We’re inviting anyone to take part. There are no costs involved and exhibitors even have the chance to make some money by selling their work,” says CEO Rauny.
The idea of the show, to be titled “The Long Hot Summer” is to make the most of today’s digital world, current photography trends and this exotic time of year.
“We’re looking for photos that capture feelings of summer, taken on a mobile phone or published via Instagram,” Ms Worm added.
Exhibition curator Narelle Phillips says the summer theme can be interpreted in a conventional way or through more abstract concepts.
“Images can evoke summer by drawing on our senses; like the sound of cicadas, or the smell of rain on a hot tar road or bush fire smoke in the air, or the eucalyptus haze hovering over the Brindabella Ranges,” Ms Phillips said.
Participants can enter up to 3 images, in JPEG format. Submission to Narelle Phillips must be made by close of business on January 27.
TAC will select up to 30 works and professionally print them on archival paper at 30x30cm for the exhibition in Gallery 1.
The Long, Hot Summer opens on Friday, February 6, in conjunction with “Forms of Landscape”, an exhibition of textiles and mixed media works by Charlie Wells.
TAC will facilitate printing and collection of works and installation of the exhibition. Selection and installation will be at the discretion of the exhibition Curator. All exhibited works can be offered for sale, with TAC retaining a 25 per cent commission on sales. Inquiries to Narelle.phillips@tuggeranongarts.com or 6293 1443
