‘The park is alive to the sound of carols’

COMMONWEALTH Park will be alive with the sound of carols at the annual Woden Valley Youth Choir ‘Carols by Candlelight’ this Wednesday December 17.

Spectrum Big Band will start the entertainment, before 45 members of the Woden Valley Youth Choir take to the stage.

Artistic director of the choir, Alpha Gregory, says, “The Woden Valley Youth Choir considers this to be their favourite performance of the year,” adding, “They love singing and looking out to the community and the thousands of candles waving high in the air…It’s just beautiful.”

This year the guest artists will be singers Christine Wallace, Livia Brash and Fraser Findlay and musical support will be by the Canberra City Band.

The Canberra Southern Cross Club sponsored  ‘Carols by Candlelight’ for 13 consecutive years and it is  is one of 350 groups and charities the club supports.

Woden Valley Youth Choir Carols by Candlelight, this Wednesday December 17, from 7pm Stage 88. FREE entry. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner. ‘Carols by Candlelight’ songbooks and candles will be available on the night via a donation to Lifeline.
