JOY Burch has announced the winning eight projects to share in $115,000 funding from this year’s Women’s Grants.
“The Women’s Grants support projects that make real differences to women and girls in our community,” Joy said.
“This year’s grant round attracted an innovative and diverse range of applications, and I look forward to seeing these important initiatives come to life in coming months.”
The successful applicants are:
- Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Association ACT – $25,000 for a project to enhance support for women affected by drug and alcohol use and domestic and family violence
- Beryl Women Inc – $12,000 for the Beryl Women History Project, a book documenting the refuge’s history and capturing statistics about domestic violence in the ACT
- PhotoAccess – $19,000 for the Digital Storytelling by Muslim Women in Canberra project, in which Muslim women will make short films about personal stories which will be screened at a launch at Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres
- Women’s Centre for Health Matters – $12,000 to develop a local resource to help GPs and community health workers to identify signs of domestic violence
- Women’s Legal Centre (ACT and Region) – $24,000 to develop a specialist Women’s Family Law Clinic for women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Women’s Legal Centre (ACT and Region) – $3,000 for the Girls Gotta Know App, which gives young women aged 14-24 quick access to essential legal information on topics ranging from housing to partying
- YWCA Canberra – $10,000 for the She Leads College Conference 2015, a leadership conference for up to 200 young women from colleges across the ACT
- YWCA Canberra – $10,000 for the Relationship Things Online project, an interactive digital portal and mobile app which aims to prevent sexual assault and violence.
