TWO gifted final year students from the ANU School of Art are the winners of the Legislative Assembly Award, it has been announced by Vicki Dunne, Speaker of the ACT Legislative Assembly.
The two recipients of the awards are Joel Arthur for his work “Refraction 31, 2014” an oil and acrylic painting on board and Harriet Lee Robinson for her work made of hand-beaten copper, a set of three from her “Rock Vessel” series. These are based on rocks found in the Gundaroo area.
The winning artists each win $500 to assist with the cost of the materials associated with their artistic practice, and are also invited to have their works exhibited in the Assembly building for a year.
“The overall quality of the exhibition was very impressive, as was the immense variety of talent that was on display across all the fields of visual art,” Mrs Dunne said. “There clearly is considerable creative talent in the student body and I wish all graduands every success into the future”, she added.
