ACT Parks and Conservation Service is searching for suitable candidates with a passion for the outdoors and volunteering to apply to be a campground host at the Cotter or at Woods Reserve.

“Opportunities for campground hosts are available from Wednesday 17 December 2014 through to Sunday 1 February,” Said Murrumbidgee River Corridor Ranger Ali Mungoven.

There will also be further opportunities across all the school holiday periods in 2015.

“This is a great opportunity for someone who loves camping and dealing with people to live at the beautiful Cotter campground, experiencing all the adventure that the precinct offers, while providing outstanding customer service to campers,” Ms Mungoven said.

“At the Cotter, hosts will have the full use of the powered Cotter campground ‘villa’ during their stay, whereas at Woods Reserve they will be expected to provide their own tent or caravan. Duties for the hosts will include assisting campers with paying fees and finding sites, providing information on local attractions and promoting walks and activities.

“The campground host will also assist rangers with reporting of issues and helping gather information on park use, statistics around flora and fauna sightings and camping numbers.”

Individuals, couples, or even family groups are welcome to apply.

Ms Mungoven said successful applicants will receive full training before being placed on a register to be contacted over the Christmas, Easter and school holiday periods.

Individuals interested in applying for a campground host position can download the selection criteria and duty statement via www.tams.act.gov.au.
