FRESH from good news on the ACT funding front, Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres will join the Arts Law Centre of Australia in hosting a free legal clinic for artists and arts organisations.
Arts Law is offering local artists and arts organisations one-off, 30-minute legal advice appointments with Robyn Ayres, executive director of the Arts Law Centre of Australia, who will help artists and arts organisations to gain a better understanding of arts-related legal issues.
Arts Law Australia is the national community legal centre for the arts, based in Sydney. In 2014, the ACT Government contributed $10,000 to assist Arts Law Australia to provide greater access to legal advice for artists and arts organisations in the ACT.
Ayres has been a lawyer for over 25 years and the Executive Director of Arts Law since 2002. Her aim is to ensure that artists and arts organisations properly understand their rights as well as their legal responsibilities.
