CHIEF Minister Katy Gallagher and Physical Activity Foundation CEO Lucille Bailie have joined the students and staff from Arawang Primary School to celebrate the recruitment of the 50th ACT School to the “Ride or Walk to School” program.
The Ride or Walk to School program is a comprehensive, three-year program funded by the ACT Government’s Healthy Canberra grants program and is delivered by the Physical Activity Foundation. It covers everything from road and pedestrian safety, bike storage and maintenance to practical BMX and self-defence workshops for participants.
With Arawang Primary School in Waramanga joining the Ride or Walk to School program the total number of ACT Schools participating in the program hit the target, and current program capacity of 50. Along with educational and practical elements of the program, Arawang Primary receives 15 brand new bikes from local businesses, Backbone BMX and Bike Culture.
