ZED Seselja has congratulated the C.E.W. Bean Foundation on their successful application for a grant under the Federal Government’s “Saluting Their Service Commemorations” programme.
The C.E.W Bean Foundation, named after Australia’s official World War I historian Charles Edwin Woodrow Bean, will receive $100,000 to construct The War Correspondents’ Memorial at The Australian War Memorial to honour every Australian war correspondent, photographer, artist and film and sound crew.
“It is extremely pleasing to see a local organisation dedicating time and energy to honouring the important role war correspondents played in recording and documenting Australia’s military history,” Zed said.
“The War Correspondents’ Memorial is scheduled for completion in 2015 and will honour the war correspondents who risked their lives to share the experiences of all Australians that have served in conflicts with their loved ones and the wider public that remained in Australia.
“I wish the C.E.W. Bean Foundation all the very best in the construction of the Memorial and look forward to the opening next year,” concluded Senator Seselja.
The memorial will be in the sculpture garden.
