ARTIST and curator Suzie Edwards has alerted us to the new Ten Thousand Paces gallery space/shop, Springetts Arcade, 302 Bong Bong Street, Bowral. Edwards says ACT artists should be getting in before this “quirky but charismatic little gallery” develops a long waiting list for exhibition space.
“THE Mannheim School” is the Sydney Consort’s last concert for the year, looking at early classical music from the birth of the clarinet in compositions of Stamitz, up to Mozart’s chamber works. Performing with the consort will be Lawrence Dobell, principal clarinet with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and versatile recorder player Hans-Dieter Michatz. At Wesley Music Centre, 7pm, on Sunday, October 16, bookings to trybooking.com/DVJL or tickets at the door 30 minutes before the concert.
IF you’re keen on The King, it’s time to register for the Parkes Elvis Festival’s 2015 busking competition or the rock ‘n’ roll dancing competition. THE next free concert at the High Court, 1pm, on Sunday, November 16, features Polifemy, a women’s vocal ensemble performing sacred and profane Renaissance music and the recorder ensemble Walking the Dog. Both are directed by veteran Canberra music director Robyn Mellor.
