POLICE believe a stolen car was used in two ram raids and an aggravated burglary in Canberra’s north early this morning.
Officers first identified the stolen white Holden Commodore driving along William Slim Drive, Giralang, at about 2.35am, but lost sight of the vehicle.
A short time later the car was involved in a ram raid, according to police, at the “BWS” liquor store in Kaleen Plaza.
The front doors were smashed in, leaving the shop extensively damaged, and several bottles of alcohol were taken.
About half an hour later at 3.05am, an aggravated burglary was reported at a home in nearby Giralang. Two male offenders, who police believe are linked to the ram raids, were disturbed during the burglary and fled after one claimed to have a gun.
The stolen white Commodore was found parked a short distance from Kaleen Plaza at about 3.30am and seized by police as evidence.
Security camera footage later showed the same stolen car being used in a second ram raid at Evatt Shops, which occurred at about 2.30am but was not reported to police until after the car was found.
Police released the CCTV footage from the Evatt ram-raid (below), which shows the white Commodore reverse through the shop and its two hooded occupants run through the shop:
