ANU student Stephanie Corish, has met with Anthony Albanese, Matt Kean, Kate Ellis and Andrew Leigh to discuss the issue of girl’s education in Sierra Leone.

Stephanie will be wearing a school dress as a part of her Do It In A Dress challenge for One Girl. So far, she has raised $1,610, enough to send 5 girls to school for an entire year in Sierra Leone.

The funds are raised through One Girl’s Do It In A Dress campaign, which aims to empower women and girls through education, business training and scholarships. The campaign revolves around a simple idea: wear a school dress and complete a challenge, get your friends and family to support your campaign, and raise funds and awareness for One Girl’s girls’ education projects. The challenge that Stephanie has set herself is to meet with as many politicians as possible in a dress.

“I’m wearing a school dress for the 66 million girls around the world who aren’t in school… Education breaks the poverty cycle, increases the health and safety of these girls and their families, and let’s them realise their potential,” Stephanie said.

“Through Do It In A Dress I want to have fun, start important conversations about girls’ education, and make a difference all while rocking a school dress!”
