QUEENIE van de Zandt is one of our Canberra theatre scene’s prize products.
She may be an award-winning actress but she’s also one of the funniest women in Australia, as anyone who’s seen her stage character, the awful Jan van de Stool, can attest.
“I’m just so thrilled to be able to make people laugh,” she says.
Van de Zandt, who has worked on a number of television shows including “City Homicide” and “Da Kath & Kim Code”, will be at The Q for a cuppa, a laugh and a song or two tomorrow as the final act in this year’s “Morning Melodies”.
Her first love is surely musical theatre, with recent appearances as the Witch in Victorian Opera’s sell-out production of Sondheim’s “Into The Woods” and in the world premiere of “King Kong”.
Queanbeynites might like to know that her first profession engagement was at The School of Arts Café when she was still a schoolgirl.
“Morning Melodies” with Queenie van de Zandt , at The Q, rear, 253 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan. 10.30am tomorrow Tuesday, October 21. All tickets $25. Bookings to theq.net.au or 6285 6290.
