CANBERRA CBD Limited are warning business of unholy disruptions to Bunda Street as it is converted into a shared space.
The entry from Akuna Street will close from Thursday 8 October 2014. Therefore both ends of the last part of the City Cycle Loop are temporarily closed at Akuna Street (adjacent SAP building) and Mort Street (adjacent ActewAGL Building).
Local traffic and deliveries can use the three roads off Cooyong Street. Warning you must use the one closest to your destination because you have to return back to Cooyong on the same road. The exception is Genge and Murulla which can be used as a loop (remember you can’t cross the median in Cooyong from Murulla).
Another warning – Scotts Crossing is a dead end at Bunda so if you want to access Tocumwal Lane you have to use Petrie. Both Tocumwal Lane and the Canberra Centre loading dock/s adjacent the site sheds are not obstructed and there are loading zones on the streets.
There’s lots more there to check out if you are going to be affected.
They finish on this cautionary note:
The artist sketch of the completed works with the child chalk-drawing on the pavement is before cost cuts. Our basic understanding is that the only additional pavement widening (with corten steel panels) is nearby Guzman Y Gomez because of the comparative narrowness of the walkway. The majority are the traffic slowing and sharing devices.
