THE search for Canberra’s finest fashion filly is off and running as the Myer Face of Canberra Racing competition returns.

Now in its fifth year, the competition offers more than $10,000 in cash and prizes.
Last year’s “face” Kate Goodwin says she has gained plenty of experience over the last 12 months, with her title duties including speaking engagements, judging and hosting several functions.
“From photoshoots and television interviews, I have really gained some fantastic experience. I’ve met so many people and it’s been a definite boost to my confidence,” Kate says.
Local ladies between the ages of 18-35 are invited to take part in the judging process.
“We are looking for someone with immaculate presentation, someone who is fashion savvy and willing to become Canberra Racing’s ambassador,” says Thoroughbred Park sales and marketing manager Briony Young.
“An interest in horseracing is beneficial, but not essential. We’d like someone who is the complete package – sophisticated, well-spoken and confident.”
This year, the competition includes two preliminary heats to be held at Siren Bar in Gungahlin.
Finalists will then be personally styled by Myer and local stylist Sofia Polak, and parade on Preview Day on Sunday, February 23, with the winner to be announced later that day.
“This is the only model search of its kind in Canberra and each year the entrants increase due to the popularity of the competition. It’s definitely an ideal launch pad for someone who is interested in modelling or media,” says Briony.
The first engagement for the new winner will be at this year’s Seppelt Black Opal Stakes in March.
