GUNGAHLIN College’s second major musical production and follows highly successful short seasons of “Grease” in 2012 and “Romeo and Juliet” in 2013.
Yes, it’s that school-age showstopper, “Fame” the musical, by David De Silva and this exciting production combines the use of innovative sets, evocative music, exciting dance numbers and a cast and crew of 65 Year 11 and 12 students.
Fame the musical is set in New York City, in the old High School of Performing Arts Building on the 46th Street East of Broadway, just off Times Square, during the years of 1980-1984. It follows the last group of students and there on a four-year journey from freshman term through graduation.
Many people are familiar with the film “Fame”, but the musical allows the audience to see a different perspective, and it features some breathtaking dance. Although it is not without tragedy, “Fame” provides a change of pace after “Romeo and Juliet”. The students of Gungahlin College have been working hard throughout the year and they performed ‘There She Goes/Fame’ at the Step into the Limelight Gala Showcase at the AIS Arena in August.
