JOY Burch says local artist Chenoeh Miller will be the producer of the 2015 fringe festival, to be held in conjunction with the National Multicultural Festival.

Ms Miller was chosen by an independent panel of peers after Ms Burch called for expressions of interest in the role in July.

“I congratulate Chenoeh Miller on her appointment. Her extensive experience in alternative arts activities, and her vision of a culturally diverse program, will give the fringe a real point of difference among the other experimental arts events that we have in Canberra,” Joy said.

“The National Multicultural Festival celebrates our rich cultural diversity with a focus on community and families while, by its nature, the fringe festival will present material that is alternative, edgy and experimental.

“The city comes alive every year with the National Multicultural Festival and the fringe will be a great opportunity to showcase the diversity of alternative contemporary arts, particularly multicultural and cross-cultural arts in the ACT.

“I thank all applicants for their interest and look forward to enjoying another successful, entertaining and thought-provoking fringe festival next year.”

The fringe festival and National Multicultural Festival will be held during the weekend of 13-15 February 2015.

The fringe will receive $20,000 from artsACT and a further $20,000 of in-kind support from the National Multicultural Festival for infrastructure, promotion, insurance and security.

This will be the third year that the fringe festival has been staged in Civic to complement the National Multicultural Festival.
