SINGER-songwriter and former Canberran Timomatic will be the headline act at the 2014 National Multicultural Festival next month.
Timomatic, real name Timothy Omaji, was born in Nigeria and immigrated to Australia with his family when he was just 10 months old. His father was an academic and was posted to different positions around the country, but it was in Canberra where he showcased his dynamic dance skills with popular local performance crew Kulture Break.Omaji will return home to the capital with a free concert in Civic on the festival’s opening night, Friday February 7.
Omaji’s star has been on the rise for a number of years, with his performances on the TV series “So You Think You Can Dance?” and “Australia’s Got Talent”.
But it was the release of his hit single “Parachute” and his stint as a judge alongside Kyle Sandilands, Dawn French and Geri Halliwell in 2013 on Australia’s Got Talent that elevated his career to new heights.
Timomatic will appear at the Opening Concert of the 2014 National Multicultural Festival on Friday, February 7, in Garema Place, Civic, at 7pm.
