QUEANBEYAN City Council’s Cultural Development Officer, Georgina Perri, is keen to remind local artists that Applications close on Friday, September 5 for the inaugural Clearwater Sculpture Prize.
Clearwater, named for the fact that the name Queanbeyan derives from an Aboriginal word meaning “clear waters”, will be the first outdoor exhibition of its kind in Queanbeyan.
It will be held on the foreshore of the Queanbeyan River over three days from October 10–12 during the inaugural Queanbeyan River Festival and entrants are naturally encouraged to take inspiration from the river and its surrounds.
The concept for the event, Perri says, centres on creating community awareness and engagement with the river, whilst the promoting the river and surrounds as a recreational space.
Clearwater Sculpture Prize welcomes applications from artists of all abilities – from first time sculptors, to professional and experienced practitioners. Collaborative works from community groups, schools, etc. are also encouraged.
