MICK Gentleman is letting people know that nominations are now open for the 2014 Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards.
The Minister for Children and Young People is encouraging nominations for exceptional young people aged between 12 and 25 years in our community.
“If you know a young person who has made significant contributions to the ACT community through personal efforts or being actively involved in our community, I would encourage you to nominate them for a Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Award,” Mick said.
“The Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the achievements, leadership and dedication of young people in Canberra.
“This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Awards, and provides us the opportunity to look back on the great achievements of our previous winners.
“I’d like to congratulate the 2013 Young Canberra Citizen winner Jarrett Anthoney for his outstanding work over the past year in raising awareness of brain tumours and honouring his sister Dainere’s legacy,” Mr Gentleman said.
This year’s award categories are; Young Canberra Citizen of the Year, Personal Achievement, Group Award, Youth Arts and Multimedia, Individual Community Service, and Young Environmentalist.
The Awards are sponsored by the ACT Government, Beyond Bank Australia, Anglicare ACT, University of Canberra, Australian Catholic University and The Riverview Group.
