FORMER Brumbies and Wallabies star, and current CEO of the University of Canberra’s women’s basketball team the Canberra Capitals, has been appointed the chair of the new University of Canberra Vikings, our entry in the new National Rugby Championship.
“This team is part of the University of Canberra, where I work, but linked to the Brumbies and to community rugby, where I spent most of my playing career, so I feel a strong personal association,” Joe said.
“I think this makes me a great fit with the team and I hope I can bring some real value to the board.
“It is exciting to be involved from the start in a new team and a new competition, particularly with such an innovative arrangement. The University of Canberra Vikings is more than just a name, it represents the capacity of the Canberra community to collaborate together to achieve great things.”
Mr Roff has previously served on the board of the Brumbies. Before joining the University he was director of workforce development with Lifeline Australia. Prior to that, he was a consultant with the Nous Group.
Mr Roff spent 10 years playing professional rugby union in Australia, France and Japan.
He attended Marist College Canberra and has a Bachelor of Applied Finance from the University of Southern Queensland. He also has a Master of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.
