FOR far too long Australians have languished in the thrall of an inferior selection of potato chip flavours.
What little innovation we have seen has been throwing more adjectives on the same old thing with salt and vinegar giving way to sea salt and balsamic vinegar serving as a miserable example.
All the while other nations have leapt ahead basking in the light of new food science.
Today we are considerably excited by the news that Tyrell’s English Crisps are looking to take advantage of our cashed up but under-serviced market.
Coming to Coles they’re offering flavours such as Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar (which we’re a bit dubious about as per the above example) Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper, Mature Cheddar & Chives, Sunday Best Roast Chicken and Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper.
We can only hope that having dipped their toe in the market we’ll see some of their more adventurous flavours because I could murder some pickled onion flavour.
