THE Harrison Art Show is back this weekend for the third successful year at Harrison Performing Arts Theatre Studio in Harrison School.
It’s a community event that showcases the work of local and interstate artists with all the works available for purchase.
Art show coordinator Christina Saladino said this year’s looked to be the biggest show yet, with three great prizes up for grabs for artists over the age of 16.
“We doubled the amount of people who walked in last year compared to the year before and we had many first time exhibitors successfully sell their art,” Saladino said.
This year, she said, they had increased the amount of interest from sponsors and artists and that they planned to grow bigger in coming years.
The three big prizes are the $500 Marketplace Art Prize, the People’s Choice Art Prize and the $250 My Gungahlin 2014 Themed Art Prize –“ Gungahlin History”.
‘My Gungahlin’ website founder, owner Mark Scarborough, said he had been impressed by the passion of the organisers of the Art Show and wanted to show his support by being part of it through sponsorship and by advertising the event through his website, social media and e-newsletter.
The show this year has been curated by artists Kylie Fogarty and Carol Osmotherly.
The Harrison Art Show, at Harrison Performing Arts Theatre Studio, Harrison School, opening night 7.30pm Friday, June 27, tickets $10 at the door. The show will continue throughout the weekend closing on Sunday at 4pm, entry by gold coin.
