FOR many people the arrival of a 30th birthday would be the occasion for a quiet family do or some subtle clubbing around town, but not for local muso and writer, Tom Woodward.
Flushed with the success of his composition for the recent show, “Never Trust the Teacher,” Woodward, is taking over Smith’s Alternative this Friday, June 27, for what he’s predicting will be “a wildly eclectic evening”, and you’re all invited.
Not only will he be joining up with his old mates, Canberra psych-folk rockers The Henchmen on stage, but he’ll be launching his own “insane, satirical and hilarious” comics zine.
The night will also feature performances by the Krewd Sisters, Konrad Lenz and Melbourne sound god, Nausea. There will be film clip versions of never-before-seen musical comic strips along with colourful appearances by fictional characters leaping from the pages of Woodward’s zines.
